Service Description
Every network architecture and design engagement includes the following steps:
- Identify objectives and priorities – We first learn about your business, what you are trying to achieve and then translate those business needs into technical requirements.
- Document current configuration – We document the design of any existing infrastructure noting bandwidth, Class of Service (COS) configuration, terminating equipment and more.
- Capture and analyze traffic – Traffic engineering requires a deep understand of your network. We start by coming onsite and capturing your traffic for further analysis in our labs or on location.
- Identify traffic characteristics – With the traffic captured, we can understand definitively what applications actually exist on the network, not the ones we think are on the network. We determine their latency, loss, and bandwidth requirements all of which will become critical when we engineer the SD-WAN.
- Calculate costs associated with current configuration – Smart business decisions mean having a valid We’ll capture all of the capital and operational costs of your existing configuration so you can understand whether the new WAN pays to adopt.
- Pinpoint priorities, constraints, inefficiencies and/or potential sources of failure (link to page that describes each of these considerations in more detail, possibly with examples)
- Determine and specify redundancy requirements – With hybrid WANs and in particular SD-WANs, you have a choice to match the network design to the required up-time of the given location. We’ll work with your team to develop an uptime profile based on the site, personnel, and applications. Using that information, we’ll make recommendations on how to best meet the redundancy requirements for the site.
- Develop ranked needs assessment – By learning about your business, we’ll help you rank the needs for your WAN and then build the right WAN to meet those requirements.
- Identify options, pros, and cons – Together we’ll evaluate your environment and explore the different options for meeting your needs. With each choice will look at the benefits and the drawbacks of the approach giving our independent assessment of the right action forward.
- Recommend particular network configuration – We’ll take the information gathered from our engagement and develop a detailed proposal. You’ll understand the rationale for each suggested change and the anticipated benefits.
- Provide report summarizing finds and recommendations – Every engagement includes the Expert Report, a multi-page document describing in detail our finding and recommendations.
